... contemporaries were wrong when
they put aside and destroyed decoration. I agree only when it is harmful,
it does not serve architecture but sets over it. On the contrary, when
decoratrion crowns architecture all, it gives it a brighter expression
and greater value. If in the past, the concept of the negation of
decoration had prevailed, at present we could not have the greatest
decorative heritage for which the whole world is envious of us and is
also the virtue and richness of our wonderful Italy. Just as S. Tommaso
says: "The real reformer is the one who grows in the experience of the
past.".
